Apropos Planning is a Canadian consulting firm specializing in exhibit research and development, as well as interpretive planning and strategic planning for museum development, science centres and visitor centres. Apropos has worked on museum development and exhibit research and development for more than two decades in North America and beyond.

Who We Are

Apropos Planning is a small Canadian firm specializing in content creation, exhibit development and comprehensive planning services for visitor attractions. We focus on providing museums, interpretive centres, science centres and related sites with compelling visitor experiences that communicate effectively. Established in 1991, Apropos Planning is a registered partnership with offices in Ottawa and Owen Sound, Ontario.

Apropos of Our Partnership

Two partners – Lorraine Brown and June Creelman – form the nucleus of Apropos Planning. Both Lorraine and June have over twenty years experience in content and exhibit development.

Lorraine Brown

Lorraine is our science and technology specialist. She has a Masters Degree in Environmental Studies and has worked at the Canadian Museum of Nature and the Ontario Science Centre. Many of her projects interpret the natural world, such as the exhibits at the Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory, the Nature Centre at the Royal Botanical Gardens and the Canada Marine Discovery Centre in Hamilton. Lorraine has also produced exhibits for the Glasgow Science Centre and the Tech Museum in San Jose.

June Creelman

June, who is fluently bilingual, is our historical and culture lead. Her background includes a Masters Degree in Canadian Studies and History and a decade managing heritage programs for the National Capital Commission. June’s key planning projects include Founders’ Hall, Pier 21, St. Croix International Historic Site and projects for Parliament, Rideau Hall and the new Canadian War Museum.

When you work with Apropos Planning, you will always work with either Lorraine or June – not with a junior associate. We do however work closely with professionals from other companies. We have an extensive network of associates in fields such as market research, design, fabrication, AV production and new media development.
