Amberwood Village Golf & Country Club offers scenic greens right from the 1st hole.

Nestled in the heart of Amberwood Village in Stittsville you'll discover Amber-wood Village Golf & Country Club, a full service club designed to suit a busy family lifestyle. Located at 54 Spring-brook Drive, the facility offers affordable recreational pursuits.

"We are a true country club" said Maureen Pim, general manager of Amberwood for the last 14 years, "meaning we have not just a golf course, but pool and tennis facilities as well.

The golf course is the focal point of the Amberwood Village Golf & Country Club.

With the challenging features of the course including water hazards on every hole, members and visitors alike find the 9 hole course an excellent place to test their skills.

The eighth hole a par 4 is considered by many to be the club's signature hole. The 383 yard hole is characterized by it's narrow fairway and water hazards along both sides.

"Every hole has it's own challenging qualities," said Superintendent Ken Green, adding that the course demands that players play "position golf to avoid both water and natural hazards. By playing from two different tee boxes the course easily adapts to offer 18 holes of play.

In addition to golf, the semi-private club offers three well maintained, hard surface tennis courts. The club's tennis program is open to all ages of players. Non-members can reserve a court for a fee.

The club has also collaborated with the National Tennis School in Ottawa to offer tennis lessons as well as summer day camps, by certified Tennis Canada instructors. Classes are offered weekly in group or private sessions.

The camps are for children aged 6 to 14 and run from the first Monday in July until the last Friday before Labour Day. The kids will learn the golf fundamentals as well as participate in a variety of activities designed to keep them active.

An outdoor, heated pool is available to members, however, seasonal pool memberships can also be purchased, starting at $63, Open mid-May to mid-September, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., the club accommodates various needs by setting time for adult only and family swims. Aquafit classes and swim classes are also available throughout the season.

Club house services include a library, games room, lounge, lockers, and bag storage.

Members can take advantage of all the services Amberwood has to offer, including league play, social events such as bridge and various theme nights.

"For example on August 20" said Pim," members will participate in the Amberwood Cup, which entails a 50's themed golf and pool party, complete with a surf and turf dinner!"

Amberwood also boasts a first class dining facility, Wild Wood Steak & Chophouse.

Located on the upper level of the clubhouse, the restaurant is open year round for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Executive chef Kate Yee and her staff provide mouth-watering selections of fresh, high quality appetizers, entrees and desserts at affordable prices. The out door deck is the perfect location to relax with a drink after a round of golf or tennis set. Reservations, which are recommended, can be made by calling 613-836-8999.

With it's welcoming decor, warming fireplace and magnificent views, the upper level of Amberwood's clubhouse is ideal for wedding and parties. More intimate functions may be held in the adjacent Member s lounge. When the lounge hasn't been reserved, members are welcome to come and enjoy the company of their friends. Throughout the winter there's a weekly bridge tournament and coffee parties to help pass the time until it's golf season again.
