Located in Ottawa, Aggregate Consulting specializes in SR&ED. Our focus is on assisting your company to successfully file claims for your research and development tax benefits - ensuring you receive the maximum refund or tax credit possible.
Contact us today and our professional and motivated team will assist in moving towards a successful tax credit.
Our Service
At Aggregate Consulting we are focused on helping your company to successfully file for SR&ED benefits. Our resources, knowledge and business approach are designed to bring to you the best value in recouping your company's development expenditures:
- We know how to produce successful SR&ED claims, especially in the difficult cases where it is not obvious on how your technical development meets the SR&ED criteria.
- We ensure that you receive the maximum available return by submitting claims that cover the widest possible spectrum of your development efforts.
- We take care of the entire process for filing your SR&ED claim from start to finish, off-loading the workload and complexity of performing the SR&ED filing.
Requirements for Successful Filings
A successful SR&ED claim is contingent on showing how your technology development program meets the guidelines specified by CRA. This requires an in-depth knowledge of the SR&ED program and its subtleties; companies often don't submit claims because they simply don't realize their R&D expenditures actually qualify.
The successful claim also requires an understanding of technology and its nuances. To qualify, the R&D effort must demonstrate Technical Advancement. If CRA assesses your technology development as "routine engineering" your claim will be rejected. Many companies don't submit claims because they believe erroneously that their technology development is routine; they don't appreciate how their R&D qualifies as Technical Advancement.
Our Expertise
At Aggregate Consulting we understand the SR&ED program and we understand technology. All of our Technical Advisors are graduate engineers with over fifteen years of real-world design experience. This unique combination of technical experience and SR&ED knowledge allows Aggregate to understand the Technical Advancement of your technology and then determine how and where your technological development meets the criteria set forth by CRA for acceptance. We write the Project Descriptions so that they clearly communicate to CRA the technology in question, and exactly why it qualifies under the SR&ED guidelines.
We are a small highly motivated team (located in Ottawa) that has an extremely high success rate at providing significant returns for our clients. We can dissect your technology based on the SR&ED acceptance criteria and uncover the components that will support a successful filing. Our technical expertise allows us to identify the merits of your technology. We frequently identify claims for our clients where it is very difficult to determine how the technology can meet the SR&ED qualification criteria.
The Process
At Aggregate we take care of the entire SR&ED process. Not only does this free your personnel from this time-consuming task, it also ensures the work is done correctly and that your company recovers the maximum amount of Investment Tax Credits available to them through the program. As part of this process Aggregate will:
- Perform a technical assessment of your Research and Development activities in order to determine which projects will qualify for the SR&ED program. Assess each of the qualifying projects to determine the associated current and capital costs that will qualify as SR&ED expenditures.
- Write the technical project description that will be used with form T661 on the corporate year-end tax return in support of the SR&ED tax incentive claim.
- Prepare the detailed forms and tax schedules required for both the CRA SR&ED claim and the corresponding Tax Credit program offered by your provincial government.
- Assist you in defending the SR&ED claim if CRA requires more information and/or undertakes an audit of the project claims.
- Help set up the process and procedures to assist in ongoing SR&ED tax credit recovery services.
